Ascending Foot Cranial Model  - (Rothbart BA 2007. Vertical facial dimensions linked to abnormal foot motion. Jour Amer Pod Med Assoc, in press) links abnormal foot motion to facial and/or cranial  imbalances as follows:

(1) Primus Metatarsus Supinatus forces the feet to abnormally pronate
(2) Abnormal foot pronation drives the innominates into anterior rotation
(3) Anterior rotation of the innominates can drive the temporal bones into
anterior (internal) rotation.  This rotation changes the VHf *

The animated model (left side of screen) demonstrates (1) the right foot abnormally pronating which (2) drives the right innominate into anterior rotation, which (3) drives the right temporal bone into anterior (internal) rotation.

* Vhf - distance between the outer orbit of the eye and the ipsilateral outer margin of the lip.  An asymmetry >3mm is clinically significant.

Proprioceptive insoles can reverse
facial distortions and, in young children, may reverse dental malocclusions.
